Oliver Awards 2011...
It was a night of laughter, a few
tears and rapturous applause
as the cream of the culinary
world came together to celebrate
the best food and drink the region
has to offer.
Almost 300 people packed into The Queen's Hotel in Leeds for the Oliver
Awards, the third event which in
2011 was even bigger and better than
last year’s glittering ceremony.
The atmosphere was electric as
representatives from dozens of
restaurants, cafes, fast food outlets and
bars waited in anticipation to see if
they would be one of the lucky few to
take home an accolade.
Those who triumphed were overjoyed,
and even those who didn’t receive an
award on the night were glad to have
been a part of a vibrant gathering
which showed this important sector of
the local economy is not only surviving
but thriving.
It was also proof that the Olivers, once
a new arrival, have now come of age
and is an awards event now firmly
established as an important mark
of quality, consistency and overall excellence
