The nightlife in our region is legendary with the area boasting some of UK's best restaurants, bars and clubs. And as the most-read newspaper in the region, the Yorkshire Evening Post has decided to launch an official awards programme to honour the best of the bunch. The YEP Nightlife Awards 2007 are designed to give you a chance to have your say on the best of the region's pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues. Unlike many industry awards, there is no judging panel. The only way to scoop an award is to attract the highest number of votes from YEP readers. Vote lines are open now so readers can cast their votes to have a say.
There are 10 different categories which cover eateries, bars, and entertainment venues throughout West Yorkshire. And businesses will be clamouring to win the coveted awards bestowed on only the top venues.
We hope that from today votes will be flooding in from readers keen to nominate their favourite venues. It is your chance as YEP readers to put the places where you've had the most fun, the best service, the most enjoyable food, on the map. The nightlife in West Yorkshire has a growing reputation, both nationally and internationally, and we want to be the first to acknowledge the area's most prestigious nightspots. Everyone who votes for their favourite venues will be entered into our prize draw. There are ten nights out at a winning venue for two people to be won and one star prize. The winner of our Be a Star for the Night prize and their guest will attend the glittering YEP Nightlife Awards ceremony on Monday, February 18, 2008.
The 10 Award Categories are:
* Best Bar (Public house, restaurant or hotel bar)
* Best Traditional Pub
* Best Restaurant (Leeds City Centre)
* Best Restaurant (Out of Leeds City Centre)
* Best Indian Restaurant
* Best World Cusine
* Best Student Night
* Best Live Entertainment Venue (Music, Comedy, Theatre)
* Best Family Entertainment Venue

When all the votes have been counted after the closing date of December 2007 a shortlist of the top 5 nominees per category will be drawn prior to the winners being announced at the ceremony in February 2008. |
